I have no particular desire to climb Uluru, but I grow tired of people such as Steve Ellis (Letters, July 10) saying it should be banned because it is the equivalent of a church.The rock belongs to all Australia

DEFYING death, nature and the wishes of Aborigines, more than 250 tourists climb Australia's most renowned rock each day. But a draft management plan released yesterday proposes a ban on climbing Uluru, to be in force within 10 years.
